BACOLOD CITY – Former Bacolod City councilor Lyndon Caña passed away at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center on Thursday, November 4.
Caña, 56, earlier tested positive for COVID-19.
Bacolod Councilor Renecito Novero said he was saddened by the death of Caña “but we have to bow to the will of the Almighty”.
“Lyndon was a good instrument of God’s ministry on earth. He was an excellent Bible expositor. He had been a channel of blessings to many as a preacher, lawyer, public servant and person. His departure is a great loss to us,” Novero said.
Bacolod Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said Caña was a man of principle, and one of the brightest legislators with an independent mind.
Senator Joel Villanueva said he joined the Citizen’s Battle Against Corruption (CIBAC) Party List in mourning the demise of Caña.
“Atty. Caña devoted his personal life and professional career in helping CIBAC wage a war against corruption by promoting good governance and making transparency and accountability real in the government. He did not stand quietly in the midst of immorality, indecency and the utter disregard for Filipino values in the many facets of our society,” Villanueva said.
“He was not only our partner in the advocacy but also our mentor and a bosom friend,” the senator added.
John Paul Caña, in a Facebook post, said his brother’s law practice and ministries were his areas of influence to know Christ and make Him known.
“But to us, he was simply Manong Lyndon. He touched our lives, his mom and his siblings, more than just a son or a brother.”
Andoni Llantada Valencia, a friend of Caña, said the nation and Negros lost a great man.
“He was the voice and epitome of non-trapo politics. He was a comrade in the fight of Bangon Pilipinas to transform the nation through the principles of love for God and country.”
