Cebu gov pushes for removal of face shield in public transport
CEBU CITY––Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia is pushing for the removal of a requirement that mandates people to wear face shields in public transportation in the province.
Garcia said she would meet with the regional directors of the Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board on lifting the mandatory wearing of face shields while onboard public utility vehicles.
The governor said she had been “silently advocating” against face shields which she described as “impractical.”
“I have long ago silently taken that position (against face shields) as well,” said Garcia.
She said her recent executive orders no longer included the mandatory wearing of face shields in public transport and commercial establishments, like resorts.
