LPA to continue to bring rain in Bicol, Central, Eastern Visayas – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) sitting west of the country will continue to bring rain over Bicol Region and the Eastern and Central Visayas, said the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

According to Pagasa’s latest advisory, the LPA was last spotted 185 km east of Catarman, Northern Samar, as of 3:00 p.m.

“Asahan ang maulap na kalangitan pag-ulan at pagkidlat at pagkulob ngayong gabi sa may Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes at Masbate dulot nga ng LPA, ” said Pagasa senior weather specialist Chris Perez.

(Expect cloudy skies with rain and lightning tonight in Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes and Masbate caused by the LPA.)

“Sa natitirang bahagi naman ng Luzon bahagyang maulap hanggang sa maulap, kung magkakaroon naman ng pagulan ay dulot lamang ng localized thunderstorms,” he added.

(In the rest of Luzon, partly cloudy to cloudy skies, if there is rain it will only be caused by localized thunderstorms.)

Cloudy skies and scattered rain showers will also prevail over Eastern and Central Visayas, specifically in Dinagat Island, Camiguin Island and Surigao Del Norte.

Meanwhile, the rest of Visayas and the entire Mindanao, will experience slightly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

The LPA currently affecting parts of the country isn’t expected to escalate into a storm, but Perez warned it would move towards Eastern and Central Visayas within the next 24 hours.
