JCI MACTAN Channel will hold its second running event this March 11 dubbed Run To Lead, Run For A Cause, starting at the Fort San Pedro.
The run aims to continue helping JCI-Mactan Channel’s outreach programs. This year, they chose to help the Gualandi Volunteers Services Programme (GVSP).
GVSP is a deaf child sexual abuse prevention network. The fun run is also expected to give support to the Break The Silence program, which helps sexually abused women in the country, and JCI’s “Read To Lead” campaign, which visits public schools in remote areas in Cebu.
“We want to help these schools and GVSP because we want to continue our advocacy,” said Cherryl Lynn Pada, the project chairman of the running event during yesterday’s SCOOP Forum Bobby “Knight” Inoferio at the Baseline Recreation Center.
Joining Pada yesterday were JCI-Mactan Channel president Anthony Aguhar and John Paul Maunes of GVSP.
Meanwhile, the running event will have 3-kilometer, 6k and 12k races. The technical side of the race will be handled by veteran race director Joel Baring.
Registration fee is pegged at P300 for regular runners and P250 for students. There will also be a 20 percent discount for persons with disabilities and senior citizens. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
