/ 12:10 PM June 15, 2011

AT least 54 student boarders who were among those displaced by last Monday’s fire in barangay Sambag I, Cebu City, need financial and material aid.

Sambag I barangay captain Jerry Guardo said there were 172 persons or 39 families who were displaced in the fire that destroyed 20 homes in sitio Upper Kawayan and Plaza de Goma in Sambag I.

Guardo said the students—who came from Leyte, Negros Oriental and Mindanao—stayed near their area to guard what remained of their belongings.

“Some of them have lost everything, including their cash in the fire. They can’t make a down payment to another boardinghouse,” Guardo said.
He said donors can drop their items at the barangay hall where they will be issued a receipt.
