MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) may issue show-cause orders to local government units (LGUs) who fail to submit their vaccination records every day, Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said Thursday.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año recently said that 30 percent of LGUs are not consistent in uploading their vaccination data.

“Dahil base po doon sa ating polisiya sa National Vaccine Operations Center, at the end of the day ay kailangan po nare-report nila ‘yung nababakunahan nila sa VORS o Vaccine Operating Reporting System,” Malaya explained during the Laging Handa briefing.

(Based on the policy of the National Vaccine Operations Center, at the end of the day, LGUs must report their vaccination data to the VORS o Vaccine Operating Reporting System.)

“Dahil nga pong sa delay na ito, mayroon po tayong mga 10 milyong vaccination data ang hindi pa uploaded doon sa system kaya minabuti po ni Secretary Año na isama ito doon sa mga datos at mga responsibilidad ng mga local government units,” he added.

(With this delay, we have a 10-million vaccination data that is not uploaded in the system. So, Secretary Año wants the data to be included in the responsibility of local government units.)

“Posible po na mag-issue na ng show-cause order ang DILG laban sa mga LGUs na ito na hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa rin nagsa-submit ng updated data,” Malaya went on.

(It is possible for DILG to issue a show-cause order against the LGUs which have not submitted their data until now.)

According to Malaya, the problem in the country’s immunization rollout is vaccine hesitancy and vaccine preference even as the supply is currently sufficient.
