MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Thursday declared as “a success” the implementation of the COVID-19 alert level system in the country.

During the Laging Handa briefing, DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya noted the dropping COVID-19 cases and low healthcare utilization rate nationwide.

“So, so far, wala naman po tayong nakitang problema (we do not see any problem). The implementation of the alert level system has in fact been a success,” Malaya said.

“So, matagumpay po ang implementation ng alert level system sa buong bansa,” he added.

(The alert level system implementation is successful in the entire country.)

According to Malaya, they have received good feedback from provincial governments regarding the implementation of the five-level COVID-19 alert system.

He also assured that they consult local government units before the alert level system is rolled out in the area.

“Maganda naman po ang feedback natin from the provinces. Bago po kami magdagdag ng probinsya ay kino-konsulta po namin ‘yung mga provincial local government units or provincial governments and the cities there through our DILG field offices,” Malaya explained.

“‘Pag um-okay po sila, kaagad-agad nagco-conduct po kami ng orientation para sa mga probinsyang ito,” he went on.

(If they agree, we immediately conduct an orientation for these provinces.)

Currently, Metro Manila is under Alert Level 3 until November 14.
