Retired gov’t worker killed in Busay home

A retired female government employee was found dead in her house in barangay Busay, Cebu City.

Antonieta Espiritu, 60, was found lying on the floor of her bedroom, her face pressed down on a pillow . Her hands were tied behind with a bra strap and her feet bound with an electrical cord.

Police said a stocking was stuffed in her mouth.

Neighbors said they didn’t notice anything unusual that evening after she retired for the night.

Another report said the housemaid Mary Himalaya who discovered the body said two cell phones and a gold necklace were missing.

Espiritu used to be a teller of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).

Her marriage to a retired police official was annulled in 1997.

Police said the woman remarried but that the relationship went sour and that Espiritu had some family conflicts.

The body was discovered past 5 a.m. yesterday at her residence in PBN Housing Project in Nivel Hills.

The maid said she last saw Espiritu alive at 7:30 p.m.

Busay barangay captain Yody Sanchez sought police assistance. He said the woman had complained about two men in previous weeks./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
