Flooding sweeps through parts of Samar, Eastern Samar due to heavy rain

TACLOBAN CITY — Heavy rain spawned by a low-pressure area (LPA) has caused flooding in some parts of Samar and Eastern Samar provinces on Wednesday.

In Matuguinao town, Samar, Mayor Aran Boller personally monitored the affected villages.

He said there were so far no families that needed to be evacuated.

In Eastern Samar, the towns of Arteche and Jipapad also suffered flooding due to the heavy rains.

In Arteche, a national headway located in Barangay Bigo was rendered impassable due to non-stop rains.

In Jipapad, residents experienced knee-deep floods.

The Eastern Samar Electric Cooperative (Esamelco) has temporarily cut power supply in affected villages both in Arteche and Jipapad to avoid untoward incidents.
