KORONADAL CITY––A tricycle driver traveling to Sarangani province to attend the burial of a relative was charred beyond recognition as his vehicle caught fire after it collided Tuesday with a motorcycle in Malapatan town.

Senior Fire Officer 2 Ernesto Besana, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Malapatan operations officer, said the collision happened 5:30 a.m. at the national highway in Sitio Luot, Barangay Poblacion.

Besana said Anthony Abrasado was charred after he failed to alight from his burning tricycle. He could not pull out his left leg that was pinned after the collision.

Driving his tricycle, Abrasado was heading toward Glan with his wife and a child to attend the burial of a relative when they collided with a Suzuki Raider 150 driven by Aglobo Roy Dalongdong, who was heading for Gen. Santos City.

Citing witnesses’ accounts, Besana said the fire started upon impact.

Abrasado’s wife, child, and Dalongdong were rushed to Sarangani provincial hospital for treatment.
