MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Taguig City on Tuesday started vaccinating its pediatric population regardless of whether or not they have comorbidities.
According to the city government, its vaccination hubs in Lakeshore and Bonifacio High Street (BGC) started to accommodate young residents, aged 12-17 years old, without comorbidities in the vaccination drive against COVID-19.
However, the local government clarified that Medical Center Taguig will still continue to exclusively inoculate the pediatric A3 group or minors with underlying medical conditions.
“Taguig vows to continue its fast, safe and accessible vaccination to all minors and further expand its rollout to accommodate the eligible pediatric population in the City,” the city said in a statement.
The Department of Health earlier said that the country has approximately 1.2 million children ages 12 to 17 with comorbidities.
Pfizer and Moderna are the only allowed COVID-19 vaccines approved by the Philippine Food and Drug Administration for children aged 12-17 years.
The Lakeshore Hall in C6, Lower Bicutan starts its vaccination services at 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., while BGC begins from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday to Friday.
