2.7 million doses of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine arrive in PH

2.7 million doses of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine arrive in PH

MANILA, Philippines — Around 2.7 million doses of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19 were delivered to the Philippines on Tuesday afternoon.

The vaccine vials arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 at around 3 p.m., according to a live stream of state-run PTV.

The shipment consists of 1,350,000 doses of Sputnik V’s Component I vaccine and 1,350,000 of its Component II, the National Task Force against COVID-19 said.

Present during the arrival was Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Marat Pavlov, Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process chief of staff Assistant Secretary Wilben Mayor, NTF special adviser Dr. Teodoro Herbosa, and Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Jaime Ledda, among others.

The latest delivery brought the Philippines’ total vaccine doses to 108,912,460, the NTF said.
