MANILA, Philippines — A total of 37,964 minors with comorbidities aged 12 to 17 have so far been given their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje revealed this Tuesday, noting that the count was since October 15, when the government opened vaccination of children 12-17 years old with pre-existing health conditions against the new coronavirus disease.
As of October 31, a total of 59.3 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered across the country, Cabotaje said. Around 31.9 million individuals have received at least one dose while 27.3 million have been fully vaccinated, she added.
About 1.6 million or 99.75% of the country’s health workers have received at least one dose while 1.5 million or 95.35% have completed the necessary doses, Cabotaje also reported.
As for senior citizens, the Department of Health official said around 5.1 million or 62.30% have received at least one dose while 4.7 million or 57.65% have been fully vaccinated.
Cabotaje further said that the Philippines recorded an average daily vaccination rate of 500,000 in the previous week.
