ANGELES CITY––Some 100 Aetas in Sapangbato village in this city have been vaccinated against COVID-19, the city government said Sunday, Oct. 31.

In a statement, it said the inoculation of the Aetas was in line with the city’s celebration of Indigenous People’s Month in October.

Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said the Aetas in remote areas also needed to be protected against the disease.

He said 107 Aetas received their first dose of the vaccine on Oct. 29, while 45 others earlier vaccinated were given their second dose on the same day.

Lazatin said 168 Aetas were vaccinated against COVID-19 via the city’s “Ronda Bakuna” mobile bus clinic last September.

The mayor said they distributed P2,000 in cash, food packages, and vegetable seeds to some 313 Aeta families in Sapangbato.
