Pagasa: Generally fair Monday weather with isolated rain showers

MANILA, Philippines — Rain showers and cloudy skies will prevail in most parts of the country on Monday due to the shear line and the northeast monsoon or “amihan,” according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Shear line is where the winds of the northeast monsoon and easterlies meet, Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja explained.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, except Palawan, will have fair weather due to the northeast monsoon.

Meanwhile, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Caraga region, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao can expect cloudy skies with light to moderate and at times  scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected inPalawan, Western Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao.

No gale warning is in effect over in the country’s seaboards.

 LPA alert

Pagasa is monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility, located 1,420 kilometers east of Mindanao.

“Somewhere po dito sa ilalim ng shear line, mayroon tayong low pressure area na namataan sa labas ng Philippine area of responsibility.  Mababa po ang tsansa na ito ay magiging isang bagyo. Posible naman ito pumasok ng ating Philippine area of responsibility either today or bukas kaya patuloy natin itong mino-monitor sa ngayon,” Estareja said.

(Somewhere under our shear line, we see a low pressure area outside the Philippine area of responsibility.  It has a low chance of becoming a tropical cyclone. It may enter the Philippine area of responsibility either today or tomorrow, and will be closely monitored.)
