THE KAUSWAGAN Self- Defense Brotherhood captured the championship in the sparring competitions of the Doce Pares Final Philippines Team Qualifying Tournament at the Cubacub Sports Complexover the weekend, thanks to the impressive efforts of brothers Jomar Doroteo and Robert Opigal.
Brothers Jomar and Doroteo topped the Men’s Featherweight and Lightweight divisions while their cousin Robert Joseph Lou won the Flyweight title.
Aside from the Opigals, siblings Vena and Joseph Velayo won the Girl’s Middleweight and Boy’s Lightweight categories respectively.
Other KSDB gold medal winners include Jonalyn Coca (Girl’s 11-13 years old), John Michael Jayme (Boy’s Lightweight 16-17), Orlando Cabras (Boy’s 10–below) and James Clark Narvasa (Boy’s Lightweight 12-13)
Banilad Academy settled for second place with Miguel Mendoza winning the Men’s Heavyweight Single Stick and Double Stick titles. Other winners were Glenjune Niño Bungo (Boy’s Heavyweight 16-17), Charles Andales (Boy’s Heavyweight 16-17 12-13), Clifford Jao (Senior’s Lightweight), Florito Fernandez (Men’s Light Heavyweight), Steven Atenta (Men’s Middleweight Double Stick).
