Comelec sets guidelines for local absentee voting

/ 05:12 AM October 30, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set the guidelines for the local absentee voting of workers in the government, military, and the media in the 2022 elections.

A manual system of voting will be adopted and local absentee voters can only vote for national posts, namely president, vice president, senators, and party-list groups, according to Comelec Resolution No. 10725 signed on October 27.

Government employees, uniformed personnel, and members of the media should file their applications as absentee voters on or before March 7. Actual voting for this group will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 27 to 29.

Health protocols will be strictly enforced during the local absentee voting up to the counting and canvassing of votes. —Kathleen de Villa
