Cloud clusters to cause rain over S. Luzon, E. Visayas this weekend – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Southern Luzon, particularly eastern Quezon province and the Bicol Region, and Eastern Visayas may see rains this weekend due to cloud clusters hovering over the east of the country, the state weather bureau said.

Latest forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) released Friday afternoon showed that starting Friday, weather would be generally fair for most parts of Luzon and Mindanao. However, scattered rains may still occur due to isolated thunderstorms.

For Northern Luzon, colder weather is still expected due to the surge of the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan.

Pagasa also said no weather disturbance or tropical cyclones are expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility in the next three days.

For Saturday, it noted, most of Luzon would still have warm and generally fair weather, but parts of Bicol would still experience rains due to the cloud clusters.

Daytime would still be warm despite the northeast monsoon, with Metro Manila registering temperatures ranging from 24 to 33 degrees Celsius, Tuguegarao with 23 to 33 degrees Celsius, Laoag with 24 to 32 degrees Celsius, Tagaytay with 21 to 29 degrees Celsius, and Puerto Princesa with 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.

In the Visayas, temperatures in Tacloban would be at around 26 to 31 degrees Celsius due to the rains, while Cebu and Iloilo would have 26 to 32 degrees Celsius. Climate in Zamboanga and Davao. meanwhile, would be between 25 to 34 degrees Celsius, and Cagayan de Oro with 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.

Moreover, Pagasa said that still due to the northeast monsoon, a gale warning was raised over the shorelines of Batanes and Babuyan Islands, including the northern coastline of Ilocos Norte. Pagasa then advised fisherfolk and small boat operators in these areas to refrain from setting sail for now as sea conditions may be rough to very rough.

Also, the state weather service said Luzon’s western and eastern coastline, as well as the Visayas’ eastern seas, would be moderate to rough, while waters east of Mindanao and west of Palawan would have a moderate condition.

Visayas’ inland waters and seas west and south of Mindanao would have a slight to moderate sea condition, it added.
