DGL MOTORSPORTS continued its dominance in the autocross scene as it emerged overall champion in the 1st leg of the 2011 Regional Autocross Championship Series held at the Gaisano Bowlingplex parking lot over the weekend.
The multi-titled Cebu-based team ruled the opening leg by taking the top three spots in the overall race.
Spearheading the team’s title haul was 2010 Regional Novice Driver of the Year David Lim Jr.
Lim showed his mastery of the Gaisano track by bagging first-place honors and clocking the best time in the process.
Using the team’s ever-reliable Honda CRX, he logged a time of 1 minute and 2.65 seconds in the open B category.
Back-to-back Philippine Autocross Championship Regional Driver of the Year and Cebu Driver of the Year David G. Lim (DGL), meanwhile, wound up second place by clocking 01:03.43 in the open C division. The team’s chief tuner Mato Tan capped off a 1-2-3 finish by securing third place honors with a time of 1:04.20 in the experienced modified B competition.
DGL Motorsports— which is backed up by Federal Tyres, HKS Super Oil and The Coriander— also had a dominating performance in the novice division with the father-and-son tandem of Alex and Axel Yao from Bacolod City finishing first and second, respectively. Oscar Suarez wound up third.
All in all, the team won 19 titles in the event that was participated by some of the best autocross drivers in the region. /Correspondent Dale Rosal
