ANGELES CITY––After inoculating persons deprived of liberty at the district jail, the city government deployed a team on Tuesday, Oct. 26, to vaccinate against COVID-19 at least 260 persons detained in six police stations in this city.
In a statement, the city government said since detainees are staying in closed spaces, vaccination against the viral disease is necessary.
It said the vaccinated inmates include those at the detention center of the city police drug enforcement unit.
On Monday, a mobile clinic was dispatched to the Angeles District Jail managed by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology to vaccinate 1,335 inmates.
The inmates at the district jail and the police stations were administered the first dose of the vaccine and will receive their second dose in December.
This city on Tuesday registered three new COVID-19 patients, nine recoveries, and zero deaths, bringing its active cases to 209.
Since the pandemic began last year, it has recorded 12,434 cases, of which 11,711 have recovered while 514 died.
