MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Panfilo Lacson on Tuesday said he was unperturbed by his standing in various surveys and said results of preelection polls would not affect the direction that his campaign team was taking in support of his 2022 presidential bid.
In a radio interview, Lacson said public opinion surveys ahead of the general elections remain “too close to call” for any presidential candidate.
“We are not worried because our campaign is running continuously, and there are a lot of surveys coming out with varying results, different numbers. So, we just keep our focus, that is what we’re doing. We are not distracted,” he said.
Lacson was referring to the latest “Pulso ng Pilipino” preelection survey conducted by the Issues and Advocacy Center (IAC) from Sept. 27 to Oct. 8, which supposedly showed his popularity rating improving to 12.5 percent.
It was the first time that Lacson posted double-digit figures since throwing his hat in the presidential ring, purportedly due to a “strong showing” in the Luzon and Visayas regions, according to the IAC.
The presidential aspirant credited his improved showing to the growing number of political leaders and citizens expressing their support for Lacson and his vice presidential tandem, Senate President Vicente Sotto III.
In a statement, Ashley Acedillo, spokesperson for the Partido Reporma, expressed confidence in Lacson’s chances in the 2022 presidential race, supposedly because of his “consistent positive trajectory in almost every survey” that was conducted recently. INQ
