MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday reported 65 new COVID-19 deaths bringing the country’s death toll to 41,585.

The total number of deaths accounts for 1.51 percent of all cases, the DOH said.

The country on Saturday also logged 5,807 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the country’s caseload to 2,751,667.

Of the total number of cases, 63,051 or 2.3 percent of all cases are active, but 84.2 percent of them have mild or no symptoms.

Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries is now at 2,647,031 or 96.2 percent of all cases after 9,578 patients recover from the new coronavirus.

The DOH noted that 29 duplicates were also removed from the total case count including 27 recoveries.

“Moreover, 51 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH added.

Meanwhile, the global infection now stands at 243 million including 4.9 million deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University Case Tracker.
