NCR’s average new COVID-19 cases drops below 1,000 — OCTA Research

MANILA, Philippines — The average number of new COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila is now below 1,000, according to OCTA Research.

“The 7-day average of new cases in the NCR (National Capital Region) decreased to less than 1,000 (996) for the first time since July 22 to 28,” OCTA Research fellow Guido David said over Twitter on Saturday.

David added that the current average number of cases is 43 percent lower than last week’s seven-day average of 1,762.


Meanwhile, the reproduction number of COVID-19 in Metro Manila decreased to 0.45 while the positivity rate decreased to 7 percent from the 10 percent last week.

The current average daily attack rate in the region is at 7.03 per 100,000 individuals per day.

Metro Manila now has 12,967 active COVID-19 cases while the entire country has 66,838 active cases, based on the tracker of the Department of Health (DOH).

The DOH reported 5,823 additional cases nationwide on Friday.

According to David, Quezon City was the local government unit that reported the most new cases on Friday with 277 additional cases, followed by Parañaque City (129), Zamboanga City with 121 cases, Pasay City (93), and the City of Manila (90).
