MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Election (Comelec) held on Saturday a voting simulation at the San Juan Elementary School in San Juan City in preparation for the 2022 elections.

Over 4,000 individuals are expected to participate in the test run of the voting process while observing health protocols imposed to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Comelec earlier said that the simulation will utilize four classrooms as polling precincts and three classrooms as holding areas.

“This simulation is not a simulation of the voting system. It is a simulation of the operational process,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said in a press briefing on Saturday morning.

According to Comelec, the simulation activity is aimed at helping the poll body determine the average timeframe in verifying the identity of voters, identify other areas of concern in the verification process, and devise measures to decongest polling sites and implement procedures to complete the voting process in the shortest possible time.
