Woman in Biliran town rescued after climbing electric pole

Mentally challenged woman in Biliran town rescued after climbing electric pole

ORMOC CITY — Rescuers from the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) rescued a mentally challenged woman who incurred burns after climbing on an electric pole in Barangay Look, Almeria town, Biliran at about 2:55 a.m. on Friday, Oct 22.

Police Lt. Edwin Simbajon, chief of the Almeria Police Station, said they received a phone call from a resident who noticed that the electric pole near their residence had sparked.

When the resident went out of their house, he saw somebody above the electric pole who was crying for help. He added that the person above the electric pole is known in the area to be mentally challenged, prompting him to call the attention of their barangay officials, who later contacted the police.

Personnel from the BFP later rescued the victim, who incurred burns in the different parts of her body.

She was rushed to the Biliran Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.
