MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported the highest number of deaths in October with 283, bringing the total number of fatalities to 41,520.
The deaths account for 1.51 percent of all cases.
The DOH reported 5,823 cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 2,745,889.
Of the total cases, 66,838 or 2.4 percent are active cases, but the majority have only mild or no symptoms, accounting for 85.2%. The country’s current positivity rate stands at 11.6 percent.
With 4,748 recoveries, the total number of individuals who survived the disease has reached 2,637,531, or 96.1 percent.
From the total case count, 45 duplicates were removed, including 36 recoveries.
“Moreover, 220 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH noted.
As of posting, the COVID-19 global case count is now at 242.5 million including 4.9 million deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University Case Tracker.
