Occidental Mindoro Rep. Nene Sato seeks gubernatorial seat

MANILA, Philippines — House Rep. Josephine “Nene” Sato is running for governor in the 2022 local elections under the banner of Occidental Mindoro’s Dream Team, an alliance of the province’s elective chief executives.

Sato will be running alongside three-term Mayor Eric Constantino as her vice governor and Board Member Philip Ramirez as the province’s representative at the House of Representatives. The Dream Team will be fielding a complete slate of local municipal candidates composed mostly of incumbent officials.

Sato, who won her third term in Congress with a vote of 133,438, or 67 percent of the total votes cast in Occidental Mindoro in 2019, is offering her constituents a quality of public service that only a seasoned public official like her can provide.

Sato has been in public service for 33 years now, providing quality leadership rooted in experience, competence, dedication, compassion and a sense of urgency to act in the best interest of the people of Occidental Mindoro.

“In 2022, Occidental Mindoro will be a better province. In 2022, Occidental Mindoro will start to experience economic growth. We will pole vault into the future through economic prosperity,” Sato said when she filed her certificate of candidacy.

The go-to “Ina ng Oksi,” Sato is known to troubleshoot and provide solutions to the problems of the province’s different sectors – from electric consumers, to truck and PUV drivers-operators, indigenous peoples, local entrepreneurs, forest rangers, victims of calamities, farm workers, farmers and fisher folks, public and private school teachers and students, and distressed overseas Filipino workers.

Sato, a graduate of UP College of Law and the Harvard University Special Instruction Program for Lawyers, holds the distinction of being the only legislator from Occidental Mindoro who became a member of the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA) not just once but twice — in the 17th (2016-19) and in the 18th (2019-present) Congress.
