Farmer shot dead in Nueva Ecija

SAN JOSE CITY, Nueva Ecija––Unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants gunned down a farmer in this city Thursday morning, police said.

Investigators identified the victim as Antonio Malanda, 59, of Barangay Sto. Tomas in this city.

The victim, who was driving an improvised tricycle called “kolong-kolong,” was reportedly tailed by the gunmen who shot him successively.

Malanda was taken to the Heart of Jesus Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

At least seven spent shells from a .45-caliber pistol were recovered from the crime scene, investigators said.

Police have yet to determine the motive behind the attack. INQ
