Manila Ocean Park reopens to public

Marine theme park reopens as Manila placed under Alert level 3

MANILA, Philippines — Manila Ocean Park reopened its doors to the public on Thursday amid a lower alert level in Metro Manila.

Only fully vaccinated individuals ages 18 to 65 years old, however, are allowed to visit the marine theme park.

Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna led the ceremonial opening of the park after its temporary closure because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Napaka-importante po ang patuloy na pagbubukas ng ating mga negosyo dahil na rin sa maraming naapektuhan ng pandemya na ating kinakaharap,” said Lacuna in a statement.

(It is very important for our businesses to open because of how much the pandemic is affecting us.)

“Dahil po dito, makakabalik na po sa pagtatrabaho ang ilan sa ating mga kababayan at magreresulta rin sa pagkakaroon ng magandang epekto sa ating ekonomiya,” she added.

(Because of this, some of our compatriots will be able to return to work which will result in a positive impact on our economy.)

Manila Ocean Park features the first oceanarium in the country in addition to other attractions such as Trails to Antarctica — which includes the Penguin Exhibit — world of creepy crawlies, toy museum and more.

The park will be open from Thursday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Metro Manila is currently placed under Alert Level 3 from Oct. 16 to Oct. 31, which means more business establishments have been allowed to open and mobility restrictions have been relaxed.
