LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—La Union province opened Tuesday its first vaccination site at a mall.

The site, located at the newly opened Robinsons Place in the capital city of San Fernando, is the second major vaccination facility operated by the provincial government.

Senior citizens would be accommodated primarily as walk-ins in the vaccination site, according to the provincial government.

The rest of the eligible population would need to register over an online portal provided by the local government.

The provincial government said it plans to use at least 400 doses of COVID-19 vaccines per day at the mall-based vaccination site that would operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Dr. William Dacanay, provincial vaccination program operations manager, said La Union had inoculated at least 38 percent of the eligible population in the province.

Health officials plan to reach at least 60-percent vaccination coverage among eligible residents by December, said Dacanay.
