SAMMY Gello-ani’s SGG Promotions will stage a fight card at the Cebu Coliseum headlined by Weng Haya vs. Jose Ocampo for the WBO interim junior lightweight belt and the Philippine lightweight title bout between Jay Solmiano and Rey Labao on March 4.
Ocampo is a former WBO Oriental titlist while Haya made waves last December when he decked WBO world featherweight champion Orlando Salido twice before losing by TKO in the 8th.
Labao on the other hand, is a former WBO Asia-Pacific junior lightweight titlist while Solmiano will be making the third defense of the Philippine title he won in 2010.
Haya vs. Ocampo and Solmiano vs. Labao were initially scheduled to fight at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City this Saturday on a card headlined by Marvin Sonsona.
As of this writing, Marvin Sonsona’s second fight after his almost two year hiatus has been moved to March 17. SGG Promotions plan to have him appear on the same card with WBO Asia-Pacific flyweight titlist Froilan Saludar.
Another option is to have Sonsona fight on the undercard of Johnriel Casimero’s IBF title defense sometime in May. Sonsona, a former WBO superflyweight champion, won his comeback fight by unanimous decision against Carlos Jacobo of Mexico last October.
