75 Cebuano families to be awarded

SEVENTY-FIVE families who contributed to the city’s growth will be honored with the “Pinalanggang Sugbuanong Banay” or “Beloved Cebuano Family” award by the Cebu City government during the city’s 75th Charter Day celebration on Friday.

The families were chosen for their achievements that brought pride and honor to the city and for being successful in their respective field before 1965. Many of them were prominent since during the Spanish times.

These families are known by their surnames as Abadia, Abella, Abellana, Abellanosa, Aboitiz, Alcoseba, Aliño, Alix, Almendras, Avila-Cañizares, Aznar, Bacalso, Barba, Borromeo, Briones, Cañete, Chiongbian, Chiu-Benedicto, Climaco, Colina, Cuenco, Cui, Dakay, Del Mar, Del Rosario, Diola, Echavez, Escaño-Garcia, Escario, Espina, Estenzo, Fernan, Gaisano, Gandionco, Garces-Gorordo, Garcia, Go Tiao Co, Gonzales, Gothong, Gullas, Hermosisima, Herrera, Inocian, Jaca, Jakosalem, Jumalon, Kabahar, Lhuillier, Ludo-Luym, Osmeña, Pacaña, Padilla, Rama, Reynes-Mercado, Rodriguez, Sala, Salvador, Sanson, Segura, Seno, Singson, Solon, Sotto, Streegan, Tabada, Tabal, Tudtud, Urgello, Uytengsu, Velez-Leyson, Veloso, Vestil, Villa, Villanueva and Ylaya.
