OLONGAPO CITY—Due to the decreasing number of active COVID-19 infections in this city, more beds dedicated to the disease have been vacated, data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed on Tuesday, Oct. 19.
The bed occupancy rate of the four hospitals in the city dropped to 50 percent, which is considered a safe level based on the DOH classification.
At least 52 of the 106 COVID-19 beds in James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital, Mother and Child General Hospital, St. Jude Medical Center, and Zambales Medical Mission Group Coop Hospital remained available.
The occupancy rate of the city’s intensive care unit beds has also improved as only 71 percent were occupied as of Tuesday.
Only 48 of 77 beds at the city’s isolation beds were also occupied, the same DOH data showed.
According to the local task force, the city’s active cases stood at 196, with five new infections on Monday.
