LUCENA CITY — Police seized a sachet of shabu (crystal meth) from a curfew violator who was arrested in Candelaria town in Quezon province before midnight Sunday, report said Monday.
Candelaria police said that patrolling policemen accosted John Carlo Ambita, 20, while roaming in Barangay (village) Pahinga Norte around 10:50 p.m.
Ambita was ordered to go home but instead of heeding the instruction, the suspect ran away. After a brief chase, policemen eventually cornered Ambita.
During a routine search, Ambita yielded a sachet of shabu with a street value of P6,120.
The suspect was detained and is facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Ambita will also face another case for resistance and disobedience to a person in authority.
The local government has been imposing a 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew as Candelaria remained under the general community quarantine with heightened restriction due to continued surge of more COVID-19 cases.
