Metro Manila granular lockdown areas down to 82

MANILA, Philippines — The number of areas under granular lockdown in Metro Manila has decreased to 82 as the region sees a decrease in the number of new COVID-19 cases, data from the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday showed.
According to PNP data as of Saturday, three areas are covered by the Northern Police District, 13 under the Eastern Police District, 25 under the Manila Police District, 11 under the Southern Police District, and 30 under the Quezon City Police District.
Of the 82 areas, 38 are houses, 18 are residential buildings, 13 are subdivisions or villages, seven are streets, and six are residential building floors.
A total of 242 PNP personnel and 234 force multipliers were deployed in the said lockdown areas.
As of Friday, 101 areas were locked down in the region in order to control the spread of COVID-19.
On Thursday, OCTA Research said all local government units in Metro Manila are now under moderate risk for COVID-19 as the metropolis continues to note a decline in the reproduction number of coronavirus cases.
According to the latest report of OCTA, the reproduction number in Metro Manila is at 0.60 and the seven-day average of new cases from October 7 to 13 dropped to 1,847, 30 percent lower than the previous week’s average.
Reproduction number is the average number of new infections stemming from one positive case.
Metro Manila is under alert level 3 starting this Saturday until the end of October, allowing more relaxed restrictions on the movement of people.
