Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has ordered the temporary closure  of all public and private memorial parks, cemeteries, and columbaries in the province from October 30 to November 2.

BACOLOD CITY – Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has ordered the temporary closure  of all public and private memorial parks, cemeteries, and columbaries in the province from October 30 to November 2.

In his Executive Order 21-47, Lacson said he wants to prevent an influx of people and mass gatherings during All Saints and Souls Days because of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental.

“All component cities and municipalities under the province of Negros Occidental are directed to comply and implement the executive order through their respective Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Traffic Management Authority, Philippine National Police and force multipliers,” Lacson said.

All persons and establishments who do not comply with the order, he said, will face appropriate  administrative and criminal sanctions.

As of Friday, October 15, Negros Occidental has logged 4,489 active COVID-19 cases, based on the data from the Provincial Incident Management Team.
