LUCENA CITY – Two alleged revolutionary tax collectors of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Quezon province surrendered in Mauban town on Friday, the local police reported Saturday.

The Mauban police identified the rebel returnees as Vicente Mediavillo, 49, and Alladin Nopre, 43, both residents of Barangay Liwayway and alleged members of a unit under the NPA’s Apolonio Mendoza Command.

Authorities on Friday said they received information that the two wanted to surrender.

Combined police and Army soldiers proceeded to their village and facilitated the surrender. Mediavillo and Nopre were both unarmed.

The authorities will provide the necessary protection and assistance to the former rebels in their reintegration protocols under the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip).

E-Clip offers free medical treatments, education, housing, and legal aid to rebels who surrender.
