No tropical cyclones are expected to enter the PAR over the weekend, but ITCZ may bring rains over Metro Manila, Southern Luzon.

MANILA, Philippines — No tropical cyclones are expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility over the weekend, but the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring scattered rains over Metro Manila, Southern Luzon, down to Visayas.

Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Friday showed thick clouds surrounding Visayas and Palawan, up to the northern section of Mindanao, which may cause rain showers over the next few days.

“Ito pa rin ‘yong magdadala ng mga kalat-kalat na mga pag-ulan, pagkidlat at pagkulog dito sa Metro Manila, Palawan, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Calabarzon, Western Visayas, pati na rin dito sa bahagi ng northern Mindanao,” weather specialist Ana Clauren said.

(This would still bring scattered rains, lightning strikes, and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Palawan, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Calabarzon, Western Visayas, including the northern part of Mindanao.)

“Sa nalalabing bahagi po ng ating kapuluan ay asahan pa rin po natin ‘yong mga isolated rain showers dala pa rin po ‘yan ng mga localized thunderstorms,” she added.

(For the remaining parts of the archipelago, we can expect isolated rains showers due to localized thunderstorms.)

For Saturday, Pagasa said that temperatures would remain warm over Metro Manila and Legazpi despite the high chance of rains, playing at around 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.  For Tuguegarao and Palawan, it would range from 24 to 31 degrees, Laoag with 25 to 31 degrees, and Tagaytay with 21 to 29 degrees.

In Visayas and Mindanao, Tacloban and Cebu are expected to have temperatures of 26 to 32 degrees Celsius, Iloilo with 27 to 32 degrees, Zamboanga with 24 to 34 degrees, Cagayan de Oro with 25 to 33 degrees, and Davao with 25 to 34 degrees.

No gale warning has been raised over the country but sea condition over the country’s northernmost seas would be moderate to rough.  On the other hand, Luzon’s entire seaboard plus the eastern waters of Visayas and Mindanao would have a moderate condition.

The rest of the country’s seas would have a slight to moderate condition.
