MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 vaccination of minors aged 12-17 with comorbidities will be expanded to all local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila starting next week, an official of the Department of Health (DOH) said Friday.
Dr. Gloria Balboa, director for the DOH’s NCR Center for Health Development, said the vaccination of minors will be carried out in one hospital in each Metro Manila LGU.
The vaccination of minors kicked off Friday, but only in eight selected public and private hospitals.
“Next week naman, mayroon tayo dito sa Metro Manila na one per LGU na hospital and mayroon ding ibang private hospitals na nag-volunteer din so isasama na rin natin ‘yan,” she said in a Laging Handa public briefing.
(Next week, we will have one hospital per LGU in Metro Manila, other private hospitals that have volunteered to vaccinate minors.)
At present, only patients from the eight pilot hospitals will be vaccinated against COVID-19, but once the inoculation is expanded, walk-ins may be already allowed.
Minors must present their medical certificates, IDs, and other required documents.
Balboa said it was the LGUs who picked the hospitals where the vaccination of minors will be conducted.
