TAGBILARAN CITY––A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck Tuesday evening parts of Bohol province.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) traced the earthquake epicenter to four kilometers west of Sagbayan town.
Phivolcs said the earthquake was tectonic in origin, which means the tremor was caused by the movement of an active fault near the area.
The quake happened three days before the eighth anniversary of the Bohol earthquake.
On Oct. 15, 2013, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake devastated the province. At least 22 people died, while thousands were displaced.
