One person killed in Cebu City fire

CEBU CITY, Philippines—One person was confirmed dead in a fire that hit the Holy Family Village I in Cebu’s Banilad district early Wednesday, officials said.

Cebu City Fire Marshall Senior Superintendent Aderson Comar said the fire started at the house of Mariano Parcon, a retired Armed Forces colonel, and wife Teresita Parcon at 2:06 a.m.

The house, which was occupied by Parcon’s son, Mariano Jr., was destroyed. The fire also damaged the house of Arlene Torreflores.

The fire was placed under control after five minutes, Comar said.

SFO4 Allan Arciaga, chief investigator of the Cebu City fire department, said  one person was confirmed dead but the body has not been identified,  and authorities were still verifying a report that the housemaid was missing.
