LIGAO CITY––Guinobatan, Albay Mayor Ann Ongjoco started her isolation Monday morning after she tested positive for COVID-19.
In her public post on Facebook, Ongjoco informed the public that she was asymptomatic and advised all the persons who had an encounter with her to undergo quarantine for safety.
Before learning about her infection, she placed the 41 villages under granular lockdown, except Bololo, Batbat, and Pood starting Oct. 13 until 21 due to rising COVID-19 cases.
Ongjoco also placed Guinobatan under general community quarantine (GCQ) under the Inter-Agency Task Force’s declaration that placed Albay under GCQ.
“A quarantine pass will be given by the village officials to one representative of (every) family to limit the movement of the public,” she said.
“As of today, we have 91 active cases and a total of 505 since the COVID-19 pandemic started,” said Joy Maravillas, municipal disaster risk reduction management officer.
