Sara Duterte isolates, asks for privacy
DAVAO CITY—Days after she was subjected to intense speculations on whether or not she was joining the presidential race, Mayor Sara Duterte tested positive for COVID-19 and has isolated herself, the city information office (CIO) here announced on Saturday night.
The mayor has been experiencing mild symptoms, according to the CIO in a statement.
She has also been caring for other family members who needed medical attention but no details were provided.
Her case was one of the 176 new COVID-19 cases reported in the city on Saturday, according to the report of the Department of Health. The new cases brought to 1,616 the total active cases in the city.
“The family requests for complete privacy at this time and respectfully urges the public to refrain from sending tokens for well wishes,” the statement from the CIO said.
