PNP already preparing for ‘Undas’ 2021

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) is now preparing for the observance of “Undas” or the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, its chief General Guillermo Eleazar said on Sunday.

“Ngayon pa lang ay inatasan ko na ang ating mga unit commanders na simulan ng paghandaan ang mga seguridad na ilalatag sa darating na All Saints and All Souls’ Day sa susunod na buwan,” Eleazar said in a video message.

(As early as now, I have ordered unit commanders to start preparing security measures that will be rolled out during the All Saints and All Souls Day next month.)

“Inaasahan ko ang ating mga chief of police ay makikipag-ugnayan ng maaga sa kani-kanilang mga local government units (LGUs) upang pagplanuhan ang mga patakarang ipapatupad sa mga sementeryo, memorial parks at columbarium lalo na at nasa gitna pa tayo ng pandemya,” the chief added.

(I expect our chiefs of police to coordinate early to their respective local government units to plan for the policies that will be implemented in cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbarium especially when we are amid a pandemic.)

Eleazar likewise told the public to plan ahead and check the regulations that would be in place.

In 2020, some LGUs closed cemeteries and memorial parks during the commemoration in anticipation of the volume of visitors amid the spread of COVID-19.
