BACOLOD CITY––Close to a hundred vehicles joined a festive caravan from northern and southern Negros Occidental to Bacolod City on Friday afternoon, Oct. 8, to celebrate the decision of Vice President Leni Robredo to run for president in the 2022 polls.
The caravans kicked off from Silay City in the north and Bago City in the south and were joined by other vehicles on the way to Bacolod, where they converged at the South Capitol Road.
Participants aboard the vehicles brought tarpaulins, pink ribbons, and balloons, as well as honked and flashed their headlights to show support to Robredo.
Edwin Nacionales, Negros for Leni (N4L) co-convenor, said they were very happy to hear Robredo announce her bid for the presidency.
“With (the COVID-19) Delta variant lurking in the air, we decided that the safest way to celebrate is to do a caravan. We did not expect that our simple plan would become an instant hit when we posted it on Facebook and other social media platforms. This is very inspiring,” he added.
