Former Bohol beauty queen files COC for congresswoman

TAGBILARAN CITY — Maria Vanessa Cadorna-Aumentado, a former beauty queen and a registered nurse and entrepreneur, filed her certificate of candidacy for congresswoman of Bohol’s second district on Oct. 7.

She arrived at the Commission on Elections at 2 p.m. accompanied by her mother Virigilia and mother-in-law Greenie.

Cadorna-Aumentado, who is running under the People’s Reform Party (PRP), intends to take the place of her husband Erico Aristotle, who is serving his last term.

This will be the first time Cadorna-Aumentado runs for public office.

“I believe I have the capacity to serve the people, especially the second district with competence, commitment, passion and dedication,” she said.

“I am for the continuity of what has been started by my husband. We all know how he nurtured and served the second district. His good programs are what we will continue,” she added.

Bohol’s second district has 346 barangays.

Cadorna-Aumentado said she would propose legislation for the youth, sports, health, tourism, agriculture and infrastructure.

“As district representative, the people’s interests would continue to be promoted and protected,” she said.

Cadorna-Aumentado was crowned Miss Bohol Sandugo 2001. As a registered nurse, she had organized projects and relief operations such as “Kaya Nato Tabang Para sa Luzon Movement” which helped the victims of typhoons Rolly and Ulysses.

She will be running against former board member Jaja Jumamoy and Marcos Auza, who already filed their COCs.
