DOH reports the death of 109 more COVID-19 patients

MANILA, Philippines — Another 109 people who had COVID-19 have died, the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Thursday.

Based on the latest case bulletin of the DOH, there are now 38,937 deaths due to COVID in the country, representing 1.4 percent of the total 2.6 million cases detected.

This was the first time the DOH reported additional deaths anew following the technical glitch with the COVIDKaya system, which resulted in the non-reporting of deaths on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“The DOH will be reporting additional deaths tomorrow in a separate advisory, to reflect numbers not included in the previous case bulletins due to technical issues encountered with COVIDKaya,” the health agency said.

A total of 10,019 cases remain active, of which 2.7 percent are severe, and 1.2 percent are critical that are at higher risk for death. Meanwhile, 77.1 percent of the active cases are mild, 13.6 percent are asymptomatic, and 5.33 percent are moderate.
