MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is considering the opening of cinemas and arcades, among other establishments, under Alert Level 3, Secretary Ramon Lopez said Thursday.
“I think those activities are being reconsidered for Level 3. Kasi, as it is right now, ‘yung ating mga prohibitions sa Alert Level 3, naka-prohibit po ‘yung mga example na mga cinema and arcades. So, if ever mapalitan ‘yan, for Alert Level 3, not Alert Level 4,” Lopez said during Laging Handa briefing when asked if cinemas and arcades are among the businesses considered to be opened under Alert Level 4.
(I think those activities are being reconsidered for Level 3. Because, as it is right now, our prohibitions under Alert Level 3 include cinemas and arcades. So, if it will be changed, those are for Alert Level 3, not Alert Level 4.)
“Pero for Alert Level 4, ‘yung mga iniisip pa na activities na pwede i-reconsider, ito po ‘yung mga naiwan pa na other personal care services na as long as mayroon pong mga safety protocols na ino-observe ay i-allow na rin po ‘yan,” he further explained.
(But for Alert Level 4, the activities that may be reconsidered are the other personal care services as long as safety protocols are being observed, we’ll allow that.)
Under Alert Level 4 in Metro Manila, personal care services permitted to operate are barbershops, salons, nail care services, and hair spas.
“So, very limited po ang ating mga nasama dito sa personal care services. So, ang nire-reconsider po ‘yung other personal care services sa Alert Level 4,” Lopez said.
(So, personal care services are very limited. So, that’s what we are considering for Alert Level 4.)
Metro Manila is under Alert Level 4 until October 15.
