Ex-Cebu City mayor Tomas Osmeña to run as district representative
CEBU CITY — Former Cebu City mayor Tomas Osmeña is seeking a seat in the House of Representatives.
Osmeña, the grandson of former president Sergio Osmeña Sr., confirmed Wednesday that he will run for congressman of Cebu City’s south district.
He will file his certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Elections on Thursday together with his wife Margot who is running for mayor of Cebu City.
Osmeña served as the mayor of Cebu City from 1987-1995, 2001-2010, and 2016-2019. He also served as congressman of the second district of Cebu City from 2010-2013.
In 2019, he ran but lost to Edgardo Labella in the mayoralty race.
