DOH logs 9,868 more COVID-19 cases in PH
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines’ count of active COVID-19 cases is now at 112,807 as of Wednesday as the Department of Health (DOH) reports 9,868 new infection cases, a lower figure due to lower testing laboratory output.
The active cases compose 4.3 percent of the total 2,622,917 cases that were detected in the country since the pandemic began. Of the active cases, 90.6 percent are either mild or asymptomatic.
The DOH also recorded 133 more recoveries, which raised the number of COVID-19 survivors to 2,471,282, or 94.2 percent of the tally.
There was again no death reported due to technical issues with the DOH’s COVIDKaya system. Because of this, deaths remain at 38,828, which represents 1.48 percent of all the confirmed cases.
According to DOH, 18.2 percent of 43,759 people who were tested were found positive for coronavirus on Monday.
Meanwhile, the DOH removed 21 duplicate entries, including 16 recoveries, from the total case count. Only two testing laboratories were not able to submit their data to the agency’s repository system. The two labs contributed 0.2 percent of samples tested and 0.1 percent of positive individuals on average in the last two weeks.
